The Balkan Bus Tour in Denmark

24th April – 3rd May 2003

Young people from countries of the Balkans (Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania, Bulgaria and Montenegro), along with 10 young Danes, took part in this event. The participants travelled by bus through Danish towns and cities, visiting universities and secondary schools, where they made friends with their hosts.

After preliminary preparations in advance of the project - the goal of which was to inform their Danish hosts in an interesting interactive way about the history, culture and way of life in the Balkan countries that they came from - the guests set out on their 10-day journey across Denmark.

During their travels they had the chance to get to know their Danish contemporaries, taught them how to play their national games exchanged experiences and showed that young people from the Balkans, disregarding recent history, try to lead lives just like those of their contemporaries throughout Europe.
They worked in groups on diverse themes, bringing the Balkans closer to young Danish people and opening their eyes to the region. There was lots of conversation, fun and socialising throughout the work, so that everyone involved was left with very happy memories.
